Today, the A and B series of ISO 21, which includes the commonly used A4 size, are the international standard used by almost every country.
Paper sizes affect writing paper, stationery, cards, and some printed documents. The international standard for envelopes is the C series of ISO 29. There are 1440 twips in an inch. For a word processor, even a 22.75in page width is exceptionally wide. If you do the arithmetic, you find that 22 inches equal 3180 twips. This is the largest whole number of inches that can be expressedin twips in a signed 1-bit binary number (where one bit is used for the sign). I do a lot of work with A5 size pages and I hate always going to Custom, and often having to re-enter the dimensions. LessPage size refers to the area of your publication. Paper, or sheet, size is the size of the paper used for printing.Orientation refers to the portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) layout. You can change the page size and orientation and preview your changes in the Page Setup group on the Page Design tab. If you are using a later version (Word 2007 or later), this tip may not work for you. You cannot use an unlimited paper size, however. Thus, the largest page area you can define in Word is 22 inches by 22 inches.
This is an absolute limit. If you need to print to larger paper, then you will need to use a different program, such as a desktop publishing.
